The Baddest Kkhalnayaks

Bollywood was never known for great acting or stories or direction or for that matter anything that great. Yes, sometimes they do manage to come out with gems of the first order. Although, most of the times they come out with shittiness of the first order.

But one thing Bollywood is really good at is creating some majorly kickass villains. These Villians look, speak and do so much evil-ness that one a 3 month old baby who does not understand a thing about this world will have shit inducing nightmares.

But be warned, after going through this list, YOU will probably dream shit inducing nightmares while you sleep.

5. KesariyaVilayatia.k.a‘Bad man’

Actor - Gulshan Grover
Movie - Ram Lakhan

Produced and directed by once-upon-a-time brilliant director, SubhashGhai, Ram Lakhan was a huuuge hit of it’s time. It also featured an ensemble cast of people like Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, MadhuriDixit, AmrishPuri, Dimple Kapadia, Rakhee, PareshRawal and AnupamKher. Yes, that many. Although you might argue that now these stars amount to nothing, in 1989, they were BIG!

Gulshan Grover, at that time wasn’t all that big. Actually, he was never all that big. But, he has been able to make his mark in Bollywood history through this role of KesariyaVilayati.

Even though the film featured some badass villians like AmrishPuri and PareshRawal, Bad man managed to stand out. THAT, is a major achievement! And since then Gulshan Grover is better known amongst bollywood fans as the original ‘Bad Man’.

That Moment - Whenever KesariyaVilayati says to himself “BAD MAN” in a way only Gulshan can.

4. Dr. Dang

Actor - AnupamKher
Movie - Karma

Made in 1986 and again directed by SubhashGhai, this movie had one of the most iconic and maniacal villains in the history of Bollywood. Just take a look at that picture. Now poop your pants.

With a name that sounds like a Chinese dictator, AnupamKher plays the role of a captured terrorist.

Dialogues oozing ultimate amount of evil like “Thapparkigoonj” and others will make you shiver with fear and hold on to your girlfriend for dear life. It’s OK.

When Dr. Dang speaks, you have all the right to be scared and slyly grope your chick under the pretext of fear.
I know, I’m sick!

That Moment - RanaVishwaPratap Singh (Dileep Kumar in the movie)! Dr. Dang Kopehlibaarkisi ne thappadmaarahai, First time. Is Thappadkigoonjsunitumne? Ab is goonjkigoonjtumhesunaidegi, jab takzindarahoge tab taksunaidegi.

3. Shakaal

Actor - KulbhushanKharbanda
Movie - Shaan

Coming from Sholay’s director, RameshSippy, this movie had a LOT of expectations from the audience. You know, since it was Sippy’s second movie, straight after Sholay and had AmitabhBacchan as it’s lead and everything.

Although the movie was a blockbuster, two aspects of the film have been deemed unforgettable - it’s songs and the ultimate villain, Shakaal!

Shakaal owned a fish tank. Which should have made him cute and look completely harmless. Only thing, the fish tank had SHARKS!!
Also, sliding doors.
And a scalp that shone like a shiny disco ball.

If you think James Bond villains were over the top, you haven’t seen Kulbhushan’s portrayal of Shakaal, the international criminal with the sly-est and wicked-est smile ever. But, he is known to have been inspired by James Bond’s character Blofeld.

The Moment - It was the moments of silence(eerie!) and that evil smile that had you feeling a little wet in your pants instead of the dialogues themselves.

2. Gabbar Singh

Actor - Amjad Khan
Movie - Sholay

If you don’t know about Sholay, then you are most probably not Indian. If you are not an Indian, then why you would be reading this article, baffles me.

I really don’t know what to write over here. When a person laughs, forcing everyone around him to laugh too and then shoots three of his most faithful servants, nonchalantly, you know you have a maniac.

When someone says, “Thakur, yehhaathmujhe de de, thakur”, then you know you have a person slightly screwed in the brain.

And then when the same person makes a girl dance on shards of broken glass in front of her captured lover, you know you he is on his way to become one of the greatest villains ever.

THAT, my friends, is Gabbar Singh. Brought to life by Amjad Khan, he is one of the most crazy and whackked out characters I have ever seen in Indian cinema.

That Moment : There are so many legendary dialogues to pick from but this one here is my fav :
“yaha se pachaspachaskos door gaanw me jab bachcharaatko rota hai to maakehtihai beta soja..sojanahi to gabbarsinghaajaayega.”

R.I.PAmjad Khan

But, do you know what’s worse than Gabbar?

1. Mogambo

Actor - AmrishPuri
Movie - Mr. India

Gabbarterrorised only a small time village in some corner of India. Had a small bunch of goons to help him do his deeds and killed very few people and cut off hands of his enemies.

Mogambo has a whole army of men carrying machine guns, who go “Hail Mogambo” at the rate of 20 times/minute. Loves leaving the real kind of blow-up dolls at public places and has a huge control room with a missile guy and “Do Not Touch This” button that shoots, you guessed right, missiles that target various cities.

Also, sliding doors.
And golden hair.

And acidic, lava like things, in to which his faithful soldiers jump at the wave of his hand.

That Moment - Do I really need to put it down. You ignorant kid! Take :
“MogamboKhushHua”.

Honourable Mention - Crime Master Gogo

Actor - ShaktiKapoor
Movie - AndazApnaApna

From the funniest movie in Indian cinema comes the “villain” we love the most - Crime Master Gogo!

Wearing a black suit and black-red cape, glares and a strand of hair coming onto his forehead like Superman, Gogo is the exact anti-thesis of a super villain.

That Moment : Introduced to the audience as ‘Mogambokabhatija’, Gogo’s epic dialogues include “Gogo jab bhiaatahaikuchnakuchlekejaata ha” and “Aankhennikaalkargotiyankhelunga”.
